Under the draft EV Policy 2.0, women residents of Delhi with a valid driving license will be eligible for a subsidy of ₹10,000 per kilowatt-hour of battery capacity, capped at ₹30,000. This benefit will be offered to the first 10,000 applicants once the policy is rolled out.

🔄 Background: From EV 1.0 to EV 2.0
Delhi’s first EV policy, introduced in 2020, expired in August 2023. It has since been temporarily extended while the city gears up for the rollout of Policy 2.0. According to Transport Minister Pankaj Singh, the new version is ready and awaiting final Cabinet approval, with a likely launch by mid-April.

- ₹10,000 for scrapping fuel-powered two-wheelers (less than 12 years old)
- ₹20,000 for scrapping internal combustion engine (ICE) auto-rickshaws under 12 years
- ₹1,00,000 for replacing 10-year-old CNG auto-rickshaws with electric ones
- Loan Assistance:
- Low-interest loans for electric two-, three-, and four-wheelers to ease upfront costs
🚗 New Regulations & Proposals:
- From August 15, 2025, new registrations of CNG, petrol, and diesel three-wheeler goods carriers will be banned
- A proposal requiring that a household’s third vehicle must be electric
- Fossil-fuel vehicles used by municipal agencies (waste collection, public buses) to be phased out
🔌 Charging Infrastructure: The Backbone of EV Adoption
To support this widespread EV transition, the government plans to build a robust citywide charging network:
- Over 18,000 EV charging stations will be installed—roughly one every 5 kilometers
- New buildings must allocate at least 20% of parking spaces for EV charging
- Older buildings will need to dedicate at least 5% for EV charging infrastructure
